Curating Leads to Creativity

I often find that the more time I spend in my library curating images and looking things over with searches in different contexts, the more creative ideas come to me - like this layout for my daughter Grace:

With my digital photo organization and digital supply library it is very easy to find photos to create with and then also to quickly search for matching papers and templates.  I pulled this together in less than twenty minutes.

Another note for those of you in Finding Photo Flow who are knee-deep in photo tagging - taking time away from organizing to create is really good for your creative soul...

Sharing Memories

I love this video because it illustrates how many "little" efforts add up to big payoffs.  Imagine what a treasure this little girl will inherit someday from the insights and memories recorded.

This is a great reminder of how the "little" things you do to curate a photo library add up to be a very BIG thing someday.    I encourage you to take two minutes and watch this - I promise it will give you the oomph you need to keep on keepin' on in your photo library.  Onward and upward. :)

 

Do You Have A Photo Bucket List?

I love this video by Gretchen Rubin of The Happiness Project.  She talks about being aware of your surroundings, taking note of the places, things & smells that connect you with your memories.  

I love things that inspire action and this video inspired me to create an active list of photos I want to take that include places, things, and people that connect me to those memories.  Call it my "Photo Bucket List." Here are just a few items currently on my list:

• My mother's cross-stitch floss box
• A photo of my baby sister and I on her wedding day in November
• Our family's yearly top ten places in Saratoga Springs (decided by family vote & suggestions)
• The things I use to get ready every morning
• Tlaquepaque  & glass swan barometers when we visit Sedona in November

Gretchen also speaks of smells and how powerful they are - so I've also started a list for them as well: 

• The hotel gift shop in Lahaina when I was 12 *no photo just describe
• My grandmother's perfume (so grateful I was allowed to keep what she had left) *photo
• Orange blossoms in the winter in Arizona *photo
• Arizona Monsoons *photo
