**Tutorial -Torn Paper Photo Frames **
I have been into tearing lately and with so many requests for a tutorial, I thought I would oblige. This is the framed photo on the layout from Friday's post. Kind of fun, grunged up, etc. Here's how you make it -
Step One
Start with a new 12”x12” document and square photo. Place the photo in the document. Open the Zanzibar Adan paper and move it to your document. Set the transparency to 50% so you can see your photo through the paper. Select your brush tool and then click the arrow beside the sample brush to show the Brush Preset palette. Click the right arrow next to the master diameter box and select Dry Media Brushes. Select the Heavy Smear Wax Crayon brush (20). Change the diameter to 50. Select your Move Tool and add guides ½ inch from each edge of your photo. Put your cursor in the rulers section and click and pull the blue line down on your photo. If you don’t have rulers around your document, Press CTRL-R to reveal them.
Step Two
Select your Rectangle Marquee Tool and enlarge it to align with the guides. Press delete to frame your photo. Press CTRL-D to deselect. Select your brush tool and use the brush to “tear” the edge along the guide lines. Hint – If you press your shift key as you drag the brush along your guide, it will keep the brush straight. If you make a mistake, press ALT-CTRL-Z. If you feel adventurous, pull the brush along the guides without pressing the shift key for a more artistic effect. Move your guides out beyond the edge of your photo – leaving room to tear the outside edge of the paper frame (about 1/3 of an inch). Select your Rectangle Marquee Tool and align it with the guides again. Right click on the image and choose “Select Inverse” press your delete key.
Step Three
Add a Layer Mask to your Adan paper layer. Make sure black is your foreground color and use your brush tool to tear the outside edge of the frame. Add a drop shadow to the layer by right clicking on it and choosing Blending Options and Drop Shadow.
Select both your Paper and Photo layers and right click on them and select “Merge Layers” Move the framed photo to your layout document.
I then embellished the layout to create this... Happy Monday!
PS - I have had so many emails on the photos - Photos in layout were taken with Westcott Photo Basics Kit - now you all know my secret! :)

Hey, this is differnt than other methods I've seen...gives a different feel to the torn paper...I'll have to find time to play. Thanks!
