Which means two birthdays in less than 48 hours for our household! So forgive me if this turns into a personal post - sometimes you just feel compelled to share...
My morning started at 5:30 am - getting ready for my day and getting six kids ready to walk out the door to school by 7:45 am. My youngest surprised me at 7:15 am - showing me the note from his backpack that he was "Star of the Week" at school...
Thankfully I had just printed several images from our Christmas Card shoot so I was able to send them with him to school. Note to self: Check the backpack right after he gets home and not in the morning right before school.
After I dropped the kids to school I had a few meetings and then ran to some stores to finish prep for all the birthday celebrations...
Today is Emily and Grace's 9th Birthday! This photo was taken when they were 2 1/2 years old on their first visit to the beach. We all swam with sea turtles that day but the twins were content to stay on the rocks and sand near the shore and look at the turtles sunning themselves in the distance. I hope someday when these two are older they will take another photo similar to this one. :)
I started this morning making two ice cream cakes as requested by the twins - one mint chocolate chip/chocolate cake and the other Oreo Cookies and Cream/chocolate cake. I made the chocolate cake from scratch using this recipe - cook it a little longer (about 10 mins) than usual for the 8x8 pan - I divided it between two 8x8 pans. Now I will spend the afternoon decorating around the house and wrapping presents - then frosting and decorating the cakes. :)
It is also our oldest daughter's birthday tomorrow. She will turn 15. Today and tomorrow are basketball tryouts for her - something she has been working on all summer and fall - so we are all wishing her luck!
Despite all this birthday goodness, I did manage to spend a few hours online for Digital Scrapbooking Day. I did some shopping and spent quite a bit less than usual - there were some really great freebies out this year!
I also spent a large chunk of time organizing my digital supplies this weekend and I will have to say more about that later as I have a task list a mile long and about four hours to finish it. :) Suffice it to say that my system is changing and improving - the latest change will change the physical file structure of my supplies on my computer - at the same time improving searches.
So that's all for now - life is busy - and happy - and I am so grateful...
I read this and thought "Wow, TWO birthdays-- I didn't realize she had two kids around the same date....."
DUH. um, they're called TWINS. I knew you had twins but my brain has a massive case of Monday.
I hope you have a happy happy birthday week, Kayla. You rock. :)
